Although it has only been a day, some things never change. I finally got home after a long day of competing. From my last blog, I gave an update that I was competing at the national qualifier tournament. I ended up breaking to finals! It was a very thrilling moment as I worked very hard to be where I was. At the awards ceremony, I was sitting very anxiously as they announced the results, and ultimately the top three qualifiers for nationals. Although I did not make top 3, I did achieve fifth place. Achieving fifth means that I am instead the second alternate. So, if two people from the top three were to not make it to nationals, their spot would be replaced with me. Alternatively, if one person from the top three cannot make it, and the first alternate cannot either, then I could take over. I was slightly disappointed that I did not qualify, I am not going to lie. However, this was my first year competing in Original Oratory, so I am grateful for all of the success I have had leading u...
Welcome to our production journey! Unfortunately, not much was produced or filmed today. Not everyone from our group came to school, so there was not much we could do. Andres was not here during first period, which left me curious. He also did not show up to our second period AICE Media class, and that is when I found out he was actually out sick. Lauren, on the other hand, was out in Orlando on a debate trip. She had qualified for the Florida State debate competition, but they do not come back from Orlando until tomorrow. So, I was the only one from our group in second period. I am still getting to know Franchesca, but since she is in a different class period, I have not had much time to collaborate with her. As far as I know, she was in school that day. But, I don't have any classes with her so I did not get the chance to talk to her about filming. We did talk about planning in the group chat. We went over the script we drafted up, and things we could do to really get in characte...
Part 1 To decided research some more films and I watched this video. I oddly enjoyed the video. Although he explained the plots of extremely dark and chaotic scenes, the narrators voice was so soothing. Le Jetee really embodies the importance of a score in a film. Although it was considered a photo novel, it was the beginning of a transition from photo novels and stop motion films. This dark, psychological thriller was portrayed through a series of black and white pictures. But it managed to tell a cohesive narrative. “12 monkeys” was able to portray a similar storyline but it failed to truly mimic the sensation of watching the heart wrenching photo novel. This will help me to remember that every shot matters. The angles, lighting, and even sounds can build a story and take it to the next level. Part 2 I also decided to read this article. https://filmicmag.com/2015/12/29/a-comparison-of-12-monkeys-la-jetee/ I agree with the comments the author was ...
