Production...Action!

Instead of filming in the court room yesterday, we had a change in plans. We actually ended up filming the interrogation scenes between Santana and Joel in the work office of Lauren's Mom. I liked it personally because the lighting and the setting made it really look like a private interrogation room. The lights were ominous and it was tight office, perfect for the mood we were trying to set. We did not get a chance to film the scenes between my character Maria and Santana due to the lack of time. There was also a complication with Joel's actor, Joey. There was some issue with the timing that conflicted with Joey, so we had to find a replacement. At first, Franchesca had the idea of putting herself in the role and changing the character of Joel to a girl. However, she did not make it to the day we were going to film the scenes. Hence, we replaced him with Oscar, a senior that also goes to our school. I personally do not know Oscar that well, but I know he has a closer friendship with Andres and Lauren. He ended up being fit for the role and very convenient, given that he memorized his lines the day of. Filming was a very smooth and fun experience for me. We used my phone camera since I was the only one with cinematic mode. We placed my phone on Andres' tripod to film the scenes. Most of the shorts we filmed were over the shoulder shots, filming the conversation between Santana and Oscar (Joel). I also filmed one high angle shot showing Andres throwing four queens on the desk, after Joel lies and said he won his gamble with five queens. My role in all of this was the film the scenes. Lauren was also a big help, as she signaled me when to begin recording. Afterwards, we had many takes of the same clips and had to filter out which ones we liked the most. Now, all we have to do is put these clips together.
